Location
This extensive plot of land is located three kilometres from the beautiful whitewashed village of Frigiliana. The area is known locally as “Pago de Lizar” and the site as “El Peñon”. It is accessed by a good cement track which sweeps down from the road connecting Frigiliana and Torrox. From this area there is good access to the vast national park of Sierra Almijara and the abandoned village of Acebuchal – a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. Facing south-east there are marvellous views of the mountains and down over the surrounding countryside to the Mediterranean coastline.
Project
This lovely extension of pine forest cannot be developed with private country villas but it is possible to establish a business related to the burgeoning sector of rural tourism. The present owners have formally presented plans for a "Villa Turistica Ecologica" (a rural hotel) and the town hall of Frigiliana has given its approval for the project. However, the authorities have stipulated a number of conditions for this development as the land presently forms part of a protected area. The conditions laid down by the Town Hall prohibit the damaging or cutting down of trees. Buildings can only be constructed on one level, the maximum constructed area permitted cannot be in excess of 1.900 m² (5%) and the maximum. number of rooms/cabins is 38 units. For the final approval of the project an environmental impact study is necessary.
Remarks
By buying additional adjoining land in the area the size of the project could be proportionally bigger.
